HUGE BRAG!!  WALTER AND CHANDLER WIN HIGH IN TRIAL AT THE ALL-BREED GREATER CLARK COUNTY KENNEL CLUB OBEDIENCE TRIAL!

Walter and Chandler HIT

Chandler and I traveled down to the Greater Clark County Kennel Club’s “Performance Games” on December 6 & 7, 2025. There were 2 Trials each day held in the very nice Clark County Events Center. I had a production meeting for a theatre show I am designing in February on Friday evening so decided to only enter one trial on Saturday and both on Sunday. Our class, Novice B, was scheduled to start at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon so I decided to leave at 10:00 AM so we would have plenty of time to settle in before our ring time. The 130-mile drive normally takes a little over two hours. I was confident we would be there in plenty of time even though the predicted “atmospheric river” had arrived Friday night as scheduled. I made it out the door on time and was making good time, despite not having an outboard motor and pontoons on my car. Suddenly traffic came to a virtual halt and after about 20 minutes we had finally inched forward far enough to see the truck that was on fire beside the road up ahead. We arrived at the event center about 2:15 and by the time I found the appropriate gate to enter and parked my car it was close to 2:30. I ran up to the ring just in time to hear Bonnie Lee (always a favorite judge of mine) finishing her instructions to the Novice B competitors. We were somewhere in the middle of a fairly large class, but I requested that we be moved to the end of the class because I had just driven 4 hours through bad weather. The steward was a bit hesitant, but Bonnie had heard my request and said, he’s just driven 130 miles to get here do what he requested. I got things set up and Chandler and I had a lovely walk in the rain. When we went in the ring he was on fire! We ended up winning the class with a score of 195 and finishing his CD.

That night was Chandler’s first night in a hotel, and he handled it like a champ especially after he discovered the fun of bouncing between the two beds. We had an early ring time the next morning and he once again did us proud, winning the class with a score of 196. Several people, some who have seen me over the years with my other IWS (as well as my mixed breed), and some strangers, came up to me during the day and commented on how much fun we were to watch as a team. I almost pulled from the afternoon trial since I knew we would be driving home in the dark. Fortunately, I decided to stay as showing Chandler is SO MUCH FUN! We scored another 196 and got HIT in trial #2. Pending AKC confirmation he is now Poole’s Ide Burning It At Both Ends RI FTN BN CD
He is also the love of my life!
